CHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE
Herbal medicine in China first began 5000 years ago and has now progressed into a highly sophisticated treatment method for acute and chronic illness. The first Chinese manual on pharmacology, the Shennong Bencao Jing (Shennong Emperor's Classic of Materia Medica), lists some 365 medicines of which 252 of them are herbs, and dates back somewhere in the 1st century C.E. Han dynasty. Herbal medicine is a major aspect of traditional Chinese medicine, which focuses on restoring a balance of energy by nourishing body and spirit to maintain health rather than treating a particular disease or medical condition.
Skilled practitioners of Chinese herbal medicine are able to use many different herbs in varying states, raw bark/twigs, granulated herbs and capsules, either individually or combined synergistically in a formula for maximum healing effect. Many conditions including psychological disorders, anxiety, infertility, colds, flu, sinusitis, headaches, immune disorders and digestive conditions respond well to Chinese herbal medicine.
